On the 19th October, Y6 pupils experienced Parkour at a special workshop set up at St Cuthbert Mayne, run by Parkour Experiences.
Parkour is the art and discipline of movement. Doing Parkour would mean that you are overcoming obstacles in an efficient or creative manner using only your body. Parkour often includes running, jumping, swinging, flipping, vaulting, and climbing. Parkour is very similar to gymnastics, martial arts, track & field, and ninja warrior (TV game show).
A range of exciting and safe obstacles were set up in St Cuthbert Mayne’s hall. The Y6 children learned some basic Parkour skills to develop their strength and agility. They also learned how to land safely. As their confidence increased they were able to make quicker and more accurate decisions and overcome more challenging obstacles.
