May Day!

MAY DAY is an ancient festival of Spring that is celebrated in many cultures and countries.

In England it dates back to the 1400's and is traditionally marked with events such as "Crowning the May Queen", dancing around the "Maypole" and "Morris Dancing". These all involve celebrating the brilliance of springtime with colourful displays of flowers; quaint dresses and folk costumes. There are many groups of Morris Dancers, who each represent their own local areas and traditions through distinctive costumes and folk dance routines. It is common to wear floral hats, wave handkerchiefs, hit sticks together and wear bells on their knees ( I am not joking!)

I wonder if they will hold ZOOM dances this year?  HAPPY MAY DAY
