At St Margaret’s Academy we aim to provide a diverse, balanced and relevant approach to the use of technology and the children are encouraged to maximise the benefits and opportunities that technology has to offer. We ensurethat children learn in an environment where security measures are balanced appropriately with the need to learn effectively. The children are equipped with the skills and knowledge to use technology appropriately and responsibly.
All staff are able to recognise the risks associated with technology and how to deal with them, both within and outside the school environment and all users in the school community understand why there is a need for an eSafety Policy.
E-safety is a term which means not only the internet but other ways in which young people communicate using electronic media, e.g. mobile phones. It means ensuring that children and young people are protected from harm and supported to achieve the maximum benefit from new and developing technologies without risk to themselves or others.
We have an e-safety team that comprises our Designated Safeguarding Lead (e-safety lead), our ICT co-ordinator and our Technicians. They are the first point of contact within the school for e-safety related issues and incidents.
Please see the links on this page, which you could share with your child, for further guidance about staying safe online.
