On Thursday 27th June, St Margaret’s Academy took part in an athletics competition at St Cuthbert Mayne. Children from years 3-6 competed in a variety of different running, throwing and jumping events including: sprinting, hurdles, long distance, relay, long jump, shot putt and javelin. This year, we competed against just one other school, St Marychurch. It was still a good competition and the children did very well. Years 4, 5 & 6 were year group winners and the overall champions were St Margaret’s - retaining the Champions Cup for the 7th year in a row!
At the competition, the Sports Leaders from St Cuthbert Mayne were very encouraging and helped the children achieve their best! Lennon Y3, had a special mention for demonstrating excellent sporting values. The children had lots of fun and were very tired by the end of the competition.
We are very proud of the athletics team, their skill level was very high and they all put in a special team effort to do their best and not to let their team down. Sophia Y6 (100m sprint) and the boys Y6 relay team achieved new competition records. Well done to them and to all of the competitors.
