Celebrating Queen Elizabeth II and reflecting on King Charles III 15.9.22

Staff and children have spent time since the death of Queen Elizabeth II celebrating her life and reflecting on the new monarch, King Charles III.

We reflected in assembly on the changes in society since her birth in 1926 and looked back at life in 1952 on her coronation. We also enjoyed the short film of her with Paddington Bear to help leave us a lasting happy memory.

In class, teachers adapted their curriculum and explored different aspects of this significant moment in history. Our school writing group, wrote an article for the St Marychurch Gazette about what took place in school. To name just a few of the activities: there has been a range of art work, monarchy poetry, viewing of Newsround, designing of crowns, science lessons on changing humans, letter writing to King Charles, thank you letters to the Queen, marmalade sandwich making and Paddington hats.
