On Thursday 23rd June, St Margaret’s Academy took part in an athletics competition at St Cuthbert Mayne. Children from years 3-6 competed in a variety of different running, throwing and jumping events including: sprinting, hurdles, long distance, relay, long jump, shot putt and javelin. We competed against two other schools: St Marychurch and Upton St James. We did very well with our Y3 and Y5 teams coming second and our Y4 and Y6 teams coming first. The overall champions and retaining the cup were St Margaret’s with 121 points, St Marychurch came second with 103 points and Upton St James came third with 44 points.
At the competition, the Sports Leaders from St Cuthbert Mayne were very encouraging and helped the children achieve their best! The children had lots of fun and were very tired by the end of the competition.
We are very proud of the athletics team, their skill level was very high and they all put in a special team effort to do their best and not to let their team down. Well done!
