On Monday 4th July, St Margaret’s went to the Devon FA Headquarters in Newton Abbot to play at the Torbay Football Finals Night. They came second in the group stage to qualify for the finals and the boys were very excited to play Shiphay in the semi-final. It was a very close contest between the two teams and the standard of football was very high. After many chances from both teams, the score was 0-0 and after extra time was played, the score remained 0-0. This meant penalties! The shoot-out started well for St Margaret’s, however, the Shiphay goalkeeper saved a good effort from one of our players and Shiphay scored their third spot kick to win 3-2. Penalties are the worst thing in the world when you lose them. It has been a good run, we are proud of all of the players and they should hold their heads up high. We wish them all the best with their football in the future and keep building and progress even further next year.
