Local author shares his work with Year 5 12.1.22

Year 5 Holly and Willow were incredibly privileged to have a fantastic visitor. Chris Robillard, an author from Torquay, came in to tell us the story of his father who fought in WWII and unfortunately became a prisoner of war! We were fascinated to hear about his journey through Italy and were excited when we found out he escaped! We were really intrigued by all of the historical artefacts that Mr Robillard brought in to show us, including some very special medals and a plaque. We were able to apply our knowledge of our last topic, WWII which made for some very interesting questions - even asking if Mr Robillard's Dad knew Hitler! We were so inspired by his story, travels and history that we are now going to start our own writing club, including a St Margaret's newspaper! Keep your eyes peeled!
